Donie Fischer, 65, of Waterville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with breast cancer on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. He was very proud to have lived on the family farm since birth. He was born on February 8, 1946 to Donald E. and Bertha L. (Imbrock) Fischer.
He was a life-long farmer and with his devoted wife of 44 years, Beverly (Rupp) Fischer, owned and operated Custom Agri Systems (1971-1982) and Jones Wheel Horse (1981-1995). Donie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a Waterville Twp Trustee for 27 years. He was an avid Oliver collector and was an active member in both the Buckeye Oliver Collectors and the Hart Parr Oliver Collectors Association. One of his greatest pastimes was traveling the country to share his "Traveling Toy Museum" with others.
Donie is also survived by his children Marty Fischer (Mandy Lickert), Mindy Fischer (Mike Bennett), and Melanie (Jason) Moser; grandchildren Erica Fischer, Drew & Sydney Purtee, CJ, Alivia, & Reid Moser; mother, Bertha Fischer; sisters Judy (Doug) Hoffman and Bonnie (Steve) Hoffman; mother-in-law, Louella Rupp; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and his canine buddy, Pepe. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald E. Fischer and his father-in-law, Robert Rupp.
Family and friends will be received at Peinert Funeral Homes, Waterville Chapel, 7220 Dutch Rd., on Thursday, December 8th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Friday, December 9th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Waterville, on Saturday, December 10th at 11:00 a.m. with interment immediately following at Highland Memory Gardens. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
