Janet C. Wyandt was born Janet C. Gregory on February 17, 1932. At the age of 80 years young, Janet left this world to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 30, 2012. Janet passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her ever-loving and devoted family. Since she received such wonderful care from the staff of Hospice, Senior Independence Home Health and Hospice and the staff of Dr. Mueller, and Dr. Guntsch, the family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation and gratitude.
Janet was a member of the 1950 graduating class of Fostoria High School. She later married Herbert C. Wyandt in 1955 and together they nurtured and raised six children. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Waterville, where she held numerous positions on the church council, was a part of Martha Circle, held offices with the ZLCW, very active with Altar Guild and sang soprano in the church choir. She also was very active with Meals on Wheels, performed in theatre productions for the Waterville Play Shop, and enjoyed performing concerts with the Jukebox Saturday Night singing group. Janet was very active behind the scenes for the Playshop, designing and sewing costumes as an accomplished seamstress. She was also an avid tennis player at Fallen Timbers Family Recreation Club, which helped keep her young to the very end. Aside from Janet's many hobbies, her true passion was serving and loving her many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Surviving to cherish their loving mother are children, Stephen L. (Jackie) Wyandt, Sandra L. Chronis, Josef M.
(Kathy) Wyandt, Josanna M. (Don) Heilmann, Daniel A. (Wendylea) Wyandt and Deann A. (Joe) Schiavone. Gramma Wyandt lives on in the cherished memories of her "punkins;" 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way). Also surviving are her brother John (Ann) Gregory, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Janet was preceded in death by her husband Herb, parents Lajoie and Laveda Gregory, daughter-in-law Cathy Wyandt, and great-grandson Addison Mahler and her ex-husband, Bob Compton.
Visitation for Janet is Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Peinert Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Road, Waterville, Ohio from 3 to 8 p.m.
A celebration of her life and funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., July 6, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church with a luncheon to follow.
Donations on Janet's behalf can be given to Zion Lutheran Church, Meals on Wheels, Senior Independence or Hospice of NW Ohio.
